Experience

José María embarked on his professional career as a business consultant, primarily in the financial and controlling area. During his time as a consultant, he developed extensive experience in the organisation of financial/economic departments in family businesses and multinational corporations.

In time, his professional practise has led to him complementing his financial consultancy activities with counselling in the fiscal and tax areas. This combination of economics, finance and tax allows him to lend distinctive added value in the continuous tax advice he provides to companies, and particularly SMEs.

Likewise, his experience and comprehensive knowledge of the various problems facing businesses and companies in their day-to-day activities puts him in good stead to provide solutions to issues such as fiscal planning, corporate restructuring operation design, fiscal optimisation of holding companies, company fiscal reviews and reduction of contingencies or the preparation of transfer pricing studies, among other areas.

It is worth highlighting his work as an independent board member of several SMEs, supporting the management in decision-making, and as an independent advisor for many family offices. He has extensive experience in defending clients’ interests against the management and inspection authorities of the Treasury, including lodging appeals for reconsideration and claims in the administrative/economic jurisdiction.

Educational history

• Degree in Business Sciences from the University of Oviedo, 1991.
• Master’s degree in Management and Business Administration from IESE business school, 1995.

Events, conferences and seminars

He has taken part as a speaker in several conferences and seminars on issues related to company fiscal policy, especially in the tourism and real estate sectors, and the tax system for professional and holding companies, among other issues.
